Day 21

"THINGS"

The world today places a great emphasis on "things." We want things to make life more enjoyable. Our newspaper ads, the mail, the media are all bringing their influence into our homes. Win a vacation, win a car and win another gadget; and life promises a good time. We seem to be conditioned to want "things".

Don't get me wrong, possessing "things" is not wrong as long as they do not possess you. The question may well be asked, "Is acquiring "things" our primary purpose in life,or is their a greater purpose? There is a spiritual dimension we often forget and even neglect. We need a proper balance between those "things" that make life more enjoyable and those things that enrich our spiritual life. Spiritual things ought to be paramount!

I have often said,"Things lack permanence"; things do not satisfy!" Earth was never meant to satisfy the human heart. A life filled with generosity and good deeds has spiritual value. Titus 2:14. Most of all our commitment to Jesus Christ, has eternal value.

As you read Luke 12:13-21 you will see a man who built his barns:

1.To Narrow--self

2.To Low--he left God out

3. To short--for this life only.
